Our price forecasts are built from data: volatility, moving averages, momentum and the Bitcoin halving cycle. But data can't read a Federal Reserve statement or a Senate vote. This hub collects our analysis of the events that move the crypto market, written in plain English and checked against primary sources. Each article ends with what to watch next, so you know which headlines matter.

Politics, Regulation and Policy

Since 2024, Washington has become one of the biggest swing factors for crypto. Spot ETFs, the GENIUS Act for stablecoins, the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and the stalled CLARITY Act all changed how institutions view the asset class. With the November 2026 midterms shifting control of Congress, the next two years of legislation are uncertain again.

Policy analysis

Macro, Liquidity and Flows

Crypto trades as a high-beta liquidity asset. When the Federal Reserve eases and the dollar weakens, Bitcoin has tended to outperform. When rates rise, it struggles. Spot ETFs added a new channel that can amplify both: inflows soak up supply in good times, while redemptions add selling pressure in bad ones.

Macro analysis

Cycles, Bull Runs and Bear Markets

Bitcoin's four-year rhythm, tied to the halving of new supply, has shaped every major boom and bust since 2012. Understanding where we are in that cycle is the single most useful frame for long-term forecasts, even if the pattern is weakening as the market matures.

How We Turn Analysis Into Forecasts

Analysis and forecasts work together but stay separate. The model never "reads" an article. Instead, analysis helps you interpret the model's ranges. If the model's base case assumes a recovery into the 2028 halving, our Fed and policy coverage tells you what could accelerate or derail it. If you want to quantify a scenario yourself, the AI predictor lets you test any coin and horizon, and the coin pages, starting with the Bitcoin price prediction, show how each scenario maps to price ranges.

We keep analysis evergreen where we can and date specific facts in the text. When the situation changes materially, such as a new Fed decision or a bill passing, we update the affected pages. Read about our sourcing in the editorial policy.

How Macro, Policy and Cycles Interact

It is tempting to treat each driver on its own: "the Fed hiked, so Bitcoin fell" or "the halving is coming, so prices must rise". In practice the forces overlap, and the biggest moves happen when several line up in the same direction. The 2024–2025 rally is a good example. Spot ETFs opened a new pipeline of demand in January 2024, the April 2024 halving cut new supply, the Federal Reserve started cutting rates in September 2024, and a friendlier regulatory stance after the November 2024 election removed a layer of legal risk. Each factor alone might have produced a modest rise; together they pushed Bitcoin to a record near $126,000 in October 2025.

The reverse is also true. Through 2026 the tailwinds faded at the same time. The Fed paused and then raised rates again in September 2026 as inflation picked up, ETF flows turned negative in risk-off weeks, the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate, and the market entered the post-peak phase that has followed every previous cycle top. None of these alone explains a 40% drawdown, but together they do.

That is why we track a short checklist rather than a single indicator:

When four or five of these point the same way, the odds of a sustained move are much higher than when they conflict. When they conflict, which is most of the time, expect choppy, range-bound markets and treat bold predictions with extra suspicion.

A Reading Order for Beginners

If you are new to crypto markets, the analysis is easier to follow in a particular order. Start with the four-year cycle, because it gives you the timeline everything else hangs on. Then read how interest rates affect Bitcoin to understand why macro news moves prices so quickly. Next, the bear market guide and the bull run prediction show what the two extremes of the cycle look like and which signals usually mark the turn.

With that foundation, the policy pages make more sense: the midterm elections analysis explains how Congress affects crypto, and the CLARITY Act page explains the single most important piece of pending legislation. Finally, apply what you have learned to specific coins through the forecast hub, where every coin page links back to the relevant analysis. Our methodology page explains exactly how these factors do and do not enter the model.

One last habit worth building: when a headline claims a single event "will send Bitcoin to" some price, check it against this checklist. If only one factor supports the claim, it is probably noise.

Frequently asked questions

What moves crypto prices the most?

Over months, global liquidity and interest-rate expectations have been the strongest drivers, followed by flows into products like spot ETFs and the four-year Bitcoin cycle. Over days, leverage, liquidations and headlines dominate.

Do US elections affect crypto prices?

Elections matter mainly through regulation and the people they put in charge of agencies like the SEC and CFTC. Market reactions around election days are often short-lived; the legislative agenda that follows matters more. See our midterm elections analysis.

How do Fed interest rate decisions affect Bitcoin?

Higher rates raise the return on cash and bonds and strengthen the dollar, which tends to weigh on speculative assets. Rate cuts and easier liquidity have historically supported crypto. The surprise relative to expectations matters more than the decision itself.

Is the Bitcoin four-year cycle still valid?

The pattern held again in 2024–2025, with a peak in October 2025 about 18 months after the April 2024 halving. Gains have shrunk each cycle, and ETFs and institutions may change the rhythm. Our 4-year cycle page covers the debate in detail.

How often is the analysis updated?

We review analysis pages when significant events happen, such as Fed meetings, elections and legislative votes, and refresh market data regularly. Dates in the text show when specific facts applied.
