Stellar (XLM) is one of the older payment-focused blockchains, built to move money and tokenized assets across borders in seconds for a fraction of a cent. In this Stellar price prediction we combine a technical forecast for tomorrow, the next 12 months and 2030 with a look at what actually happens on the network: stablecoins, tokenized money-market funds and the Soroban smart-contract platform.

XLM is currently priced at $0.1537, still far below its all-time high of about $0.88 set on January 2, 2018. That gap says a lot about the coin: the technology has kept shipping, but the price has not followed. Below we look at why, and what our model expects next.

Key takeaways
  • The model’s 12-month average for XLM is $0.1962, with a wide band in both directions.
  • The 2030 base case is $0.2184, below the 2028–2029 cycle peak years in our model.
  • Stellar has a fixed 50 billion XLM supply, but the foundation still holds a large share.
  • Price has followed crypto cycles more than on-chain adoption, so macro matters a lot.

What Stellar Is and Why It Matters for the Price

Stellar launched in 2014, founded by Jed McCaleb, who earlier co-created the XRP Ledger, and Joyce Kim. The network is stewarded by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), led by CEO Denelle Dixon. Its job is narrow by design: issue assets, move them quickly and convert between them cheaply.

Consensus without mining or staking

Stellar uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol, a form of federated Byzantine agreement. Validators choose which other validators they trust, and agreement emerges from overlapping trust groups. There is no mining and no staking reward, so XLM holders do not earn yield from securing the network. That keeps fees tiny but removes a demand source that many proof-of-stake coins enjoy.

Tokenomics in plain English

In 2019 the SDF burned about 55 billion XLM and switched off the network’s inflation, leaving a fixed total of 50 billion. Roughly 35 billion are in circulation. The rest sits largely with the foundation, which releases tokens for grants and ecosystem programs. For price, this means two things: no new XLM is being minted, but foundation distributions can add supply to the market over time.

What runs on Stellar

Circle’s USDC stablecoin is issued natively on Stellar, MoneyGram has used the network for cash-to-digital transfers, and Franklin Templeton’s tokenized money-market fund (BENJI) uses Stellar as one of its record-keeping chains. In 2024 Stellar added Soroban smart contracts. Protocol 23 “Whisk” (2025) introduced parallel transaction execution, and Protocol 25 “X-Ray”, activated on mainnet on January 22, 2026, added zero-knowledge cryptography primitives for privacy-friendly applications.

Indicators are calculated from the last 365 daily closes at the latest data refresh. Short-term crypto moves are close to random; treat these as ranges, not calls.

At the latest refresh XLM traded below both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, and its 14-day RSI sat in the low 30s, close to the 30 line that traders call “oversold”. The 30-day performance was sharply negative, in line with the broader altcoin sell-off in early November 2026.

Oversold readings can precede bounces, but they can also persist in a downtrend. The technical signal is neutral because the two moving averages remain close together, which means the longer trend has flattened rather than turned firmly down. For tomorrow and next week, the model’s numbers are essentially “near today’s price”; the realistic daily range is several percent wide.

End-of-month estimates from our algorithmic model (trend, volatility, 200-day mean reversion, halving-cycle overlay). Ranges, not targets. NFA.

The heat map shows the model’s minimum, average and maximum for each of the next 12 months. The average climbs gradually, from $0.1552 next month to $0.1962 in a year, which reflects mean reversion toward the 200-day average plus the early stage of the cycle overlay.

XLM’s annualized volatility is close to 80%, higher than Bitcoin’s and similar to many mid-cap altcoins. In plain terms, a one-standard-deviation move over a year spans a very wide range, so the monthly maxima and minima deserve as much attention as the averages.

Short-term catalysts include the December 2026 FOMC meeting, the October CPI print due November 10, and the direction of spot crypto ETF flows, which have been negative for Bitcoin through October and early November. Our why is crypto down explainer covers the current headwinds.

Why Could Stellar Go Up, and What Could Hold It Back?

▲ Why the price could rise

  • Fixed 50 billion supply with no inflation since 2019
  • Native USDC and tokenized funds give Stellar real-world usage
  • Soroban smart contracts and ZK features broaden what developers can build
  • GENIUS Act stablecoin rules take effect in January 2027, which could bring more regulated stablecoin activity

▼ Why the price could fall

  • The Stellar Development Foundation still controls a large share of supply
  • Payment activity does not require holding much XLM, so usage and price can diverge
  • Competition from XRP and new stablecoin-focused blockchains
  • DeFi activity on Stellar remains small compared with larger smart-contract chains

The usage-versus-price gap

The core tension in any Stellar forecast is that network usage does not automatically create demand for XLM. A stablecoin transfer pays a fee measured in tiny fractions of a lumen, and the asset that actually moves is the stablecoin. That is efficient for users but means growth in transfers does not translate one-to-one into buying pressure. Price tends to respond more to market-wide liquidity than to Stellar’s own metrics.

Regulation and the stablecoin angle

The GENIUS Act, signed in July 2025, sets federal rules for payment stablecoins and takes effect on January 18, 2027. Clear rules could encourage more licensed issuers to use fast, low-cost settlement networks, and Stellar is one candidate. The broader market-structure bill, the CLARITY Act, stalled in the Senate in September 2026, and Democratic control of Congress from January 2027 makes its future uncertain. Our CLARITY Act analysis explains what is at stake for tokens like XLM.

Competition

Stellar’s most direct comparison is XRP, which targets similar payment and settlement use cases; see our XRP price prediction for how the two forecasts compare. Newer chains designed specifically for stablecoins add pressure from another side. Stellar’s advantages are a decade of uptime, low fees and an established issuer base; its disadvantages are a smaller developer community and limited DeFi liquidity.

XLM for the rest of 2026

With under two months left, the 2026 band is tight and centered on $0.1579. The year’s remaining direction depends heavily on Bitcoin holding its 2026 range after the midterm-driven volatility.

Stellar price prediction 2027

2027 brings the GENIUS Act’s effective date and a new Congress. The model’s 2027 average of $0.2059 assumes a partial recovery, with a maximum of $0.3257 if risk appetite returns faster than expected.

Stellar price prediction 2028

The next Bitcoin halving is expected around April 2028. The cycle overlay lifts the model’s 2028 average to $0.2837, and the upper band widens substantially. Altcoins have historically lagged BTC early in a cycle and then outperformed late; our Bitcoin four-year cycle guide covers that rhythm.

Stellar price prediction 2029

2029 is the year the overlay treats as the most likely cycle-peak window. The model’s 2029 maximum reaches $0.6164, yet even that upper band stays below the all-time high XLM set in January 2018.

Stellar Price Prediction 2030

Our 2030 view assumes the market is cooling after a late-decade peak, as happened in 2018 and 2022. That is why the 2030 numbers dip below 2028–2029.

Bear case · 2030
$0.0885 -42%

Payment activity moves to competing chains, foundation distributions keep adding supply and XLM follows a post-cycle bear market lower.

Base case · 2030
$0.2184 +42%

Stellar keeps its niche in stablecoins and tokenized funds, and XLM tracks the broader altcoin market through a quieter 2030.

Bull case · 2030
$0.5159 +236%

Regulated stablecoins and tokenized assets scale on Stellar, Soroban gains developers and XLM holds most of its late-decade gains.

Relative to today, the 2030 base case works out to +42.1%. The distance between the bear and bull cards is wide because XLM’s realized volatility is high; the scenarios are a way to think in ranges rather than a single number.

Source: Binance XLMUSDT monthly candles. Exchange-specific prices can differ slightly from index prices. All-time high: $0.8756 (2018-01-02), per CoinGecko.

XLM’s defining moment came early. In the 2017 rally the token rose dramatically and peaked near $0.88 on January 2, 2018. The 2018 bear market then erased most of those gains. The 2019 burn of 55 billion XLM reshaped the supply but did not spark a lasting rally on its own.

In the 2021 bull market XLM rallied again but stayed below its 2018 high. The November 2024 surge, when payment-focused tokens moved sharply higher together with XRP, was another strong episode. Since the October 2025 market top XLM has trended lower with the rest of the market. Across these cycles a clear pattern emerges: big moves happen when the whole market is euphoric, and Stellar-specific news has mattered less.

End-of-year model estimates. The further out, the wider and less reliable the range. Not financial advice.

Long-range figures extend the model’s decaying growth assumptions. The 2040 average of $0.4743 and the 2050 average of $0.5572 imply the network is still relevant decades from now, which is a large assumption for any blockchain. Technology, regulation and competition can change completely in that time, so treat these as illustrations of compounding, not as forecasts you can plan around.

What Would Change This Stellar Outlook

A model is only as good as the assumptions it starts with, so it helps to know which developments would push XLM toward the top or the bottom of its ranges. We watch three groups of signals.

Signals that would support the upper band

  • Stablecoin growth on Stellar. Total stablecoin supply across all chains is near $290 billion, below its 2026 peak. If GENIUS-licensed issuers choose Stellar for settlement after January 2027, transaction counts and account creation would rise, and some of that activity requires XLM for reserves and fees.
  • Tokenized fund adoption. More money-market funds or bond products recorded on Stellar would strengthen the “boring but useful” narrative that institutions like.
  • A clean break above the 200-day average. Technically, XLM reclaiming and holding its 200-day moving average would tell us the downtrend that began in late 2025 is losing force.

Signals that would point to the lower band

  • Large foundation distributions landing on the market during weak demand.
  • Activity migrating to rival chains, especially stablecoin-specialized networks that offer issuers their own infrastructure.
  • A deeper crypto bear market. If Bitcoin breaks below its mid-2026 low, altcoins like XLM have historically fallen further in percentage terms. Our crypto bear market page tracks those conditions.

None of these signals is decisive alone. What matters is the balance between them, and that balance can shift in a few weeks in crypto.

How Our XLM Forecast Is Built

The ranges come from a tiered long-run growth rate that decays over time, XLM’s annualized volatility from the last 365 daily closes, its technical position (50- and 200-day averages, RSI and mean reversion), and a Bitcoin halving-cycle overlay scaled for altcoins. Price data is sourced from CoinGecko, Binance and Bitstamp. Our guide to how crypto price predictions work walks through each input, and the AI crypto price predictor lets you run thousands of simulated paths on the same data.

Is Stellar a Good Investment?

Stellar has something many altcoins lack: steady, real-world usage for payments and tokenized assets. The catch is that this usage has not reliably translated into XLM price strength, and the foundation’s large holdings remain a long-term supply factor. For most investors XLM is a satellite position at most, not a core holding.

Practical steps if you are considering it:

  • Decide on a maximum allocation before buying and stick to it.
  • Buy in stages rather than all at once; XLM’s volatility makes timing a single entry difficult.
  • Test scenarios with our crypto profit calculator and compare XLM with other large altcoins on our all-coins price predictions page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Stellar price prediction for 2030?

Our model gives a minimum, average and maximum for 2030 based on XLM's volatility, trend and a Bitcoin four-year-cycle overlay. Because the overlay expects a cycle peak around 2028–2029, the 2030 range sits below those years. The scenario cards on this page show the live figures, which are algorithmic estimates rather than price targets.

Can XLM reach $1?

It is possible on paper but would require a large re-rating. With about 35 billion XLM circulating and a fixed 50 billion total supply, $1 implies a market value of roughly $35–50 billion, several times Stellar's current size and well above its January 2018 peak valuation. The model's upper bands only approach that territory in the most optimistic long-range scenarios.

Will Stellar go up in 2027?

The model treats 2027 as a recovery year, with an average above the late-2026 level but a wide range that includes further losses. Drivers to watch are Bitcoin's direction, Federal Reserve policy, US crypto legislation and whether stablecoin and tokenized-fund activity on Stellar keeps growing.

Is Stellar the same as XRP?

No. Both focus on payments and Jed McCaleb helped create each, but they are separate networks with different consensus designs and organizations. Stellar is run by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation and emphasizes asset issuance and open access; XRP Ledger is closely associated with Ripple. Their prices often move together because traders group them as payment coins.

Does Stellar have a maximum supply?

Yes, effectively. In 2019 the Stellar Development Foundation burned about 55 billion XLM and removed the network's built-in inflation, leaving a fixed total of 50 billion. Around 35 billion are in circulation; much of the rest is held by the foundation and released over time for ecosystem programs.

Is Stellar a good investment?

XLM has real usage in payments and tokenized assets, but its price has historically tracked the wider crypto market more than its own adoption. It is a mid-cap altcoin with high volatility and large foundation holdings. Keep positions modest, consider buying gradually and treat forecasts as uncertain. This is not financial advice.
